Studio May is a creative collaboration between Naomi Webster & Martine Bonich
With complementary backgrounds specialising in residential and commercial interior design sectors, Naomi and Martine bring a range of industry experience having worked within medium to large scale design-focused studios both locally and internationally.
Working closely with client, consultant and builder, our focus is on understanding the functional and aesthetic brief in order to capture and craft spaces that celebrate form and function.
The Studio May aesthetic is anchored in a refinement of palette and texture to create a sophisticated, yet warm and inviting environment that is time resilient.
Attention to detail is at the forefront of our approach both in the design and consultation process as well as the design itself. We are passionate about creating crafted and enduring spaces that improve the user experience and make way for special moments of delight in the detail.
Who We Are
We are a small interior design studio with a modest portfolio of active projects at any one time, this is in line with our business and project ethos of quality over quantity and allows us to preserve design integrity and enjoy and foster each project/ client from beginning to end.
What We Do
We design, conceptualise and deliver highly considered and crafted interior architecture. We are dedicated to creating honest and liveable spaces that respond to and reflect the individual needs of our clients and their sites.
Our skills and services range from concept design and generating style-guides to full project documentation, coordination and on-site delivery services.
We listen to pre-determined ideas and encourage broad and holistic thinking to get the best possible outcome.
Our work is not based on trends, we consider great design to thrive in simplicity, timelessness and the user experience.
We believe beautiful interiors stem from strategic and efficient space planning to maximize functionality and enhance key vistas and natural lighting. We believe in a warm, calm and inherent aesthetic revealing beautiful and durable materiality, bespoke detailing and quality ergonomic product and lighting.
How We Work
We take a comprehensive and reflective approach to initial briefing, ensuring we understand our clients functional, aesthetic and aspirational brief in detail. We carefully interpret and translate client ideals into meaningful design proposals and solutions.
The phases of design and documentation are communicated to our clients via comprehensive and tangible design presentations and meticulous drawing packages that are all-inclusive leaving little room for interpretation. We ensure client involvement, transparency and clarity at each stage
We place high value on being adaptable and approachable and believe good design evolves through a positive collaboration between designer, client and builder.
We are realistic in our understanding that often projects have limited resources to engage design specialists. Our skills can provide the greatest contribution in the case of a limited budget to ensure that a cost-effective but beautifully executed interior is achieved through a well guided allocation of budget to keep focus on key design elements.
Our clients create lasting investments in their built environments by choosing to engage an interior designer in the early stages of a building project, as our involvement can greatly increase process efficiencies and improve the value and appeal of a residence or commercial venture.
